UCS weekly blog series
Good Day:
Today marks the first in a series of weekly postings to the UCS blog at:
http://allthingsnuclear.org/
The series is called "Fission Stories" and features short summaries of
nuclear near-misses, miscues, and follies. A link from each weekly post
explains what this series is all about.
The inaugural post is titled "Surf's Up!" and discusses the leakage of some
100,000 gallons of water INTO the containment building for the Unit 2
reactor at Indian Point some 30 years. In recent years, Indian Point is
known for radioactive water leaking out of the plant as well as more water
leaking into containment.
This initial post will be followed by a few other accounts of problems
caused by water leaking into nuclear power plants.
Thanks,
David Lochbaum
Director, Nuclear Safety Project
